Victor Noël

Born in Dour on January 3, 1916. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts of Mons, Victor Noël became professor of decorative painting and advertising drawing at the Academy of Fine Arts of Tournai until 1976. A great admirer of the Bauhaus, he became involved in geometric abstraction around 1954. He was a member of the groups Formes, D4, Géoforme and Art Concrete in Hainaut. He also co-founded the magazine Mesures Art International in 1988. Died in Montigny-le-Tilleul on February 1, 2006.

Geboren in Dour op 3 januari 1916. Na zijn studie aan de Academie voor Schone Kunsten van Bergen, werd Victor Noël tot 1976 professor decoratieve schilderkunst en reclametekenen aan de Academie voor Schone Kunsten van Doornik. Groot bewonderaar van het Bauhaus, hij raakte rond 1954 betrokken bij de geometrische abstractie. Hij was lid van de groepen Formes, D4, Géoforme en Art Concrete in Henegouwen. Hij was ook mede-oprichter van het tijdschrift Mesures Art International in 1988.
Overleden in Montigny-le-Tilleul op 1 februari 2006.
